superfluity

The truck arrived Monday, and it was too small.
Our storage area is also entirely too small.
We have way way way too much stuff.
And so we continue to move.

and the decisions begin

On Saturday, we made a trip to the lumber yard place where we're going to be getting our cabinets...cabinetry. Cabinetry is a fun word to say.

We narrowed our wood finish to these two.

And we're going with... cherry.

Check out these cool corner cabinites.

And these neato lazy susan dohickies

I think we're going with dark counters,

but we don't have to make that decision just yet. And there are several schools of thought on the kind of countertop. We're leaning toward engineered stone.

Oh, and he kids ran amok in the showroom.

insert "Rent" soundtrack song here

So we technically reside in two places. The lease on our apartment (oh my gosh, all five of us are going to be living in an apartment) is all signed, we have keys and parking stickers... we're renters. We move in on Monday.

Instead of freaking out about how surreal all that is, here is an abbreviated virtual tour.

So here's the kitchen. It has loads of storage(I have much to store). The whole island has storage underneath.

Balcony off the livingroom:

And here's my favorite- the built-in book shelf!

The rest of the pictures are boring empty rooms..and bathroom pictures are de classe. But speaking of bathrooms, we have two!!! I am so excited to not be sharing a bathroom with the kids.

This ends the tour. Please gather your belongings and take small children by the hand.

decisions

my only options yesterday:

apartment?
storage?
donate?
throw away?
move off to the side beacause I can't decide.

I am not very good at throwing things away.
A small dent has been made.
Tom made three trips to the storage place.
The movers will be here a week from today.

I need to make more boxes.

well...here goes

Almost seventeen years ago, Tom and I were sitting on the backyard swing of my parent's home. We had only known each other for about two months, but he proceeded to describe to me how we were going to get married and have an amazing house someday. He went into specific detail about what this house would be like. I remember asking myself, "Is he saying he's in love with me or with this house we're going to supposedly have some day?" I thought he was just putting on the moves, and well...he was. Worked pretty well though.

In a few weeks, we're going to be demolishing the home where we have lived for the past nine years. In its place, we're going to build that house.

Feel free to drop by and see how things are coming along.
